Tone- Definition post

Dictionary definition- The lightness or darkness of something in reference to how light falls on a 3D object.
Personal definition- The difference in light of an image depending on how bright the light directed at the object.  Tone can be exhibited in both portraiture photography and nature photography.

Black and white / Greyscale- A photograph in black, white, shades of grey, and no other colour.



Tonal range- The range of tones between the lightest and darkest areas of an image. An image with a wide tonal range will have both Very dark (black) and very light (white) elements within the photograph.
