This series of images were taken on a night trip to London. I choose to take them in London due to the fact that I had been inspired by Luxemburg's style and whilst these images are not a pastiche of her work I feel that it is obvious in several areas that my work was inspired by hers. Examples of this include the fact that the images are all in London which is where she has taken her city photos and all feature the use of lights which is something that Luxemburg always employs in her photography. If I wished to create a true pastiche to her work then I could attempt to create a series of long exposure images to light my images from natural sources in the same way that she does.

Documentary- Straight images
Disney at night
This documentary series focuses on the lights of Disney on New years eve in Florida. I felt that this was an interesting thing to document due to the fact that the lights are only up over the winter season and are extremely pretty.
I choose to increase the saturation and contrast of these images in order to increase the effect go the lights on the image and make them as impressive as they appear in real life.

Family
This documentary series focuses on my family at Disney land. I felt that this was an interesting topic to photograph due to the fact that the Disney franchise is linked with the idea of family due to the fact that it caters to people of all ages.
I feel that these images were somewhat influenced by Martin Parr's series the last resort and due to this I have chosen to increase the saturation of the images in order to to convey the feeling of summer and holidays whilst also attempting to recreate elements of Parr's style such as candid photography.

Landscape- Straight images
I feel that the harsh and industrial landscape of Harlow when combined with the black and white editing that I have added to these images allows them to fit into the brutalist category of landscape photography. Many of the industrial buildings would fit into this category due to the harsh appearance associated with the term.

Portraiture- Straight images
These images have both been edited to reduce their saturation whilst the top images has also been edited to add sharpness to the image in order to enhance the detail around the subjects eye. I have also darkened the bottom image. I feel that these changes have helped to make the image seem more interesting the viewer by creating a larger tonal range in the images.
The top image has not been edited however the bottom image is a collection of Thomas Ruff inspired portraits I chose to do this as I felt that the original image was somewhat boring and felt that adding more elements to the image through multiple imagery would make the image more eye-catching and engaging to the viewer.

Joiners- straight images
Portrait
Image 1
I like the way that this image appears to disjointed due to the way that the images have been placed. I particularly like the ear due to the way that it is a seperate image layered over the rest of the head.
Image 2

I like this image because of the way that the images are layered over the base image to create a transition effect between gas mask and human face. I also like the way that the hand is visibly larger than the other due to both the placement of the limb in the original image as well as the image placement in the editing process.
Landscape
Image 1
I like the way that the building is built up in a way similar to that of a tiered cake. This gives the greater empasise the leading and converging lines of the image.
Image 2
I like the way that the image has seperate pieces of the tree added to it using other images to create a branching off effect.
Image 3
I like the way that the lines in the image are correctly joined together along the roof of the building to give the building a warped appearance. I also like the way that the blue sign post appears multiple times as this shows the way in which the building was manipulated as well as serving to make the picture look more disjointed.

Depth- Straight images
This image appeals to me because of the way that the images subject is not where the eye is originally drawn to as the stickers bold colouration immediately captures the viewers attention.
I have edited this image by reducing the saturation of everything except for the sticker to direct the viewers eye there opposed to at the subject who is less focused in the background of the image.
I like this image becuase of the contrast that is created between the shine of the focused chain and the grainy texture of the less focused stone floor.
I have reduced the saturation of this image to emphasise the variation if depth as well as darkening the image to bring more focus to the highlights on the chain.
I like this image because of the way that the depth of field of the image creates a blurred background, making the paper in the foreground stand out more.
I have edited this image by using the selection tool to turn the background of the image black and white as well as increasing the contrast on the rest of the image.
I like the way that the light reflecting off of the pole gives the image a sense of depth.
I have increased the contrast of the image to give it harsher appearance and bring extra attention to the pole.
I like the way that this images depth of field allows for the foreground of the image to be more focused than the background.
I have edited this image by increasing the images contrast to give the foreground a sharper appearance.
This image was shot in the studio and I like the way that the eye is drawn to the lens cap in the foreground due to the images depth of field.
I have edited this image by using the select tool to allow the lens cap to retain its deep colouration but reducing the saturation of the rest of the image to create a stark contrast.

Movement- Straight images
The following images were all taken using long exposure photography of 5 to 12 seconds.
In this image I have increased the images darkness and also increased the images darkness in an attempt to create a greater sense of contrast. I have also cropped the image to draw the to the images centre.
I have turned this image black and white as well as increasing the contrast in order to increase the effect of the symbol of the heart and to make it more visible. The coldness of the image also adds a sense of sadness.
I like this image as I feel that the moving trails of light look somewhat like comets. To create this image I increased the image darkness and contrast.
This image appeals to me because of the way that movement is displayed through the a car passing through the cameras frame whilst the image was bring taken. I also like the constant image of the stop sign. To create this image I increased it's saturation and darkness.
